Madelinetosh

Su Ravelry, già da qualche tempo, avevo puntato un paio di lavori eseguiti con la Tosh Merino Light in Neon Peach, ma non riuscivo mai a trovare questo colore dispinibile in nessuna delle basi della Madelientosh. Finché qualche mattina fa non riuscivo a dormire e casualmente mi sono messa su internet. Altrettanto casualmente, sono rifinita sul sito della Madelinetosh e non potevo certo resistere quando davanti ai miei occhi si é materializzata la Twist DK proprio in Neon Peach. Ora é qui, tra le mie mani, e non smetto di ammirarla. É un colore inusuale per me, un bel arancio rosato fosforescente, ma lo adoro e credo che presto diventerà un bel Dragonflies Sweater! Ma prima devo finire i lavori che ho sui ferri eh....

Ages ago I fell in love with a couple of projects I've seen on Ravelry knitted in Tosh Merino Light in Neon Peach, but I've never found this color available in any of the Madelinetosh' basis. Until few mornings ago when, accidentally, I couldn't sleep and began to browse in Internet. I was in the Mad site and Neon Peach in Twist DK appeared in front of my eyes so I couldn't resist and I bought it. Now it is here, in my very hands, and I can't stop to stare at it. It is an unusual color for me, a nice fluoro pinky orange, but I love it and I think that very soon it will become a lovely Dragonflies Sweater! But first I have to finish the projects I have on the needles uh...

WIPs

Devo essere sincera, ultimamente ho messo da parte la mia più grande passione che, come intuirete, é fare la maglia. Perché? Beh, lavoro in mezzo ai tessuti per gran parte della giornata e la tentazione ha prevalso: ho comprato una macchina da cucire! Quindi adesso, il mio Celestite giace sui ferri, con le maniche a metà e non ne vuole sapere di essere finito.

I have to be sincere, lately I put aside my biggest passion, knitting. Why? Because as every day I work for long hours in the middle of fabrics, I couldn't resist the temptation of buying a sewing machine! So my Celestite is on the needles since ages ago, with its sleeves half way through and doesn't want to be finished.

Nel frattempo però sono riuscita a mettere insieme questo vestito, in cotone sateen, con maledette ruches lungo lo scollo e con tanto di crinoline nel sottogonna. Che ne dite? Spero vi piaccia perché io ne sono decisamente orgogliosa!

But in the meantime I put together this dress, in sateen cotton, with damned ruffles along the neck and with crinoline along the underskirt. What do you reckon? I hope you like it as I'm very proud of it!

Comunque, ieri sera, forse complici il vento e le nuvole, ho deciso di iniziare un nuovo lavoro ai ferri, con un filato che non avevo ancora mai usato (che sciocca!): ecco qua Urban di Veera Välimäki in Madelinetosh Merino Light. E visto quanto mi piace questa lana, lo finirò in un batter d'occhio, promesso!

Anyway...last night, maybe thanks to the wind and cloud, I decided to begin a new knitting project with a yarn I've never used before (such a stupid!): here it is Urban by Veera Välimäki in Madelinetosh Merino Light. And as I really love this wool, I promise to finish it in a blink of an eye!

Citron # 3

Ecco qua il mio terzo Citron, lavorato con uno dei miei filati preferiti: Merino 2 ply della Touch Yarns. Acquistai questa lana - e molte altre! - in Nuova Zelanda, ormai quasi tre anni fa e ogni tanto ne tiro fuori una matassa dal mio armadio per realizzare qualcosa di speciale. Stavolta ho deciso di aggiungere una spilla, in modo da poter portare più comodamente questo scialle non troppo grande, senza farlo così cadere dalle spalle. La spilla l'ho realizzata con dell'organza blu e grigia, negli stessi toni del filo. Che ve ne pare? A me piace mooooooltooooo!

Here it is my third Citron, knitted with one of my favorite yarns: Merino 2 ply by Touch Yarns. I bought this yarn - and many more! - in New Zealand, nearly 3 years ago, and every so often I get a skein from my stash to knit something special with it. This time I decided to add a pin to this not so big shawl, in order to wear it more comfortably. I made it with some gray and deep blue organza, in the same shades of the yarn. Do you like it? I personally love it!

Rockefeller!

Ebbene sí, non ho smesso di fare la maglia, ma ho solo avuto poco tempo per aggiornare il blog! Nel frattempo ho finalmente finito il mio Rockefeller, realizzato con la Malabrigo Sock. Lo adoro. La costruzione é diversa dai soliti schemi triangolari che di solito seguo - e che mi piacciono - e i motivi creati dall'intarsia sono davvero notevoli e d'effetto. Da rifare. Grazie  Mr SW!

Yay, I didn't stop to knit, I just had not much time to write blog posts! In the  meantime I finally finished my Rockefeller, knitted with Malabrigo Sock. I love it. The construction is different from the  shawl patterns that I usually follow - and I like - and the patterns created by the intarsia method are very nice. To do it again. Thank you Mr SW!

Winnowing # 2

Ho cercato per mari e per monti la sfumatura di verde perfetta per lo scialle che avrei dovuto indossare il giorno del matrimonio di mia sorella e quando l’ho trovata ho letteralmente fatto i salti dalla gioia. Il colore in questione è Red Legged Ham Beetle della Cephalopod Yarns e sta divinamente bene accanto al mio vestito verde giada. Arrivata però a casa a San Marcello la temperatura era straordinariamente calda e quindi decisamente non adatta ad un filato in lana merino, seppur sottile e lavorato in modo da ottenere un effetto abbastanza traforato. Questo sarebbe stato il meno, visto che arrivata a circa 10 cm dalla fine del bordo … ho finito il filo!!! E quindi, anche se avessi preso coraggio e deciso di sudare in chiesa, non avrei potuto ugualmente indossare il mio tanto sospirato Winnowing. Che tristezza. Per mettere poi la ciliegina sulla torta, il suddetto filato è al momento out of stock alla CY e quindi non avrei potuto ricomprarlo e soprattutto ritrovare lo stesso bagno di colore, a meno che una persona gentilissima dagli Stati Uniti d’America non avesse deciso di spedirmi una matassa dello stesso preciso bagno di colore del mio Skinny Bugga! e permettermi così di mettere fine a quest’odissea. Ora è finito, lavato ed asciutto e io vorrei essere a casa per andare lentamente incontro all’inverno con il mio bellissimo scialle dalle sfumature verdi!

I have looked everywhere for the right shade of green for the shawl I had to wear the day of my sister’s wedding and when I found it I jumped of joy. The color is Red Legged Ham Beetle by Cephalopod Yarns and it is perfect next to my green jade dress. But when I arrived at home in San Marcello the temperature was extraordinary warm and therefore decidedly not right for a merino yarn, even if in a fingering weight and knitted in a lace pattern. This is the easiest part, as when I reached 10 cm from the end of the shawl border … I run out of yarn!! So, even if I would have had the courage to wear the shawl and swept in the church, I couldn’t put on my lovely Winnowing in any case because I couldn’t finish it. So sad. To put an end to this miserable story, this yarn is at the moment out of stock at Cephalopod so I couldn’t buy it again and, above all, I couldn’t find the same dye lot unless a lovely person from the US wouldn’t sent me a skein of the same same batch of my Skinny Bugga! permitting me to end this odyssey. Now it is finished, washed and blocked, and I wish I was at home to slowly be entering winter with my beautiful green shawl.

Ferri: Knit Pro in legno da 3 mm.

Finalmente sono riuscita a finire quest'Odissea: il modello è veramente bello ed elegante, ma forse il filato è un po' troppo scivoloso e l'acccoppiata è risultata assai difficile da gestire. Comunque, con molta pazienza, alla fine ce l'ho fatta e mamma ha indossato questa meraviglia il giorno del matrimonio di mia sorella. Super chic!

I finally finished this Odyssey: the pattern is amazing and very elegant, but maybe the yarn is a little too slippery and I had hard times working them together. But with a bit of patience, I did it and my mum wore this wonderful piece at my sister's wedding. Super chic!

Verdi-Greens!

E' arrivato il momento di mettere da parte il tanto amato e sfruttato Tangerine e far posto nei nostri guardaroba al verde, in tutte le salse, ma meglio se bello brillante. Non é un colore che mi piace particolarmente, ma sto facendo del mio meglio per abituarmici e forse mi sono lasciata prendere un po' la mano! Ecco qua i miei ultimi acquisti...

It is time to put aside the much loved and exploited Tangerine and make some room in our closets for the green, better if in a bright shade. I don't love this color, but I'm doing my best to like it and maybe I have been carried away a little! Here are my last purchases...
