Tangerine Tango 17-1463

Grignasco, Merinogold, colore 790
Cascade Yarns, 220 Superwash, colore 907

Grignasco, Merinosilk, colore 336
Drops, Alaska, colore 46

Manos del Uruguay, Wool Clasica, colore 69
Pantone chose it as the 2012 color of the year and therefore we should trust the guru of colors and start knitting something in tone. Orange peeps out from catwalks and cosmetics, from home furnishings and accessories, from head to foot. Thanks to the vivaciousness of red and the warmth of yellow, Tangerine Tango orange gives sensual and energy to whoever wears it, enriching your wardrobe with something magnetic and sophisticated. So why do not use it for your next sweater or cardigan?
Here are just some examples of yarns that would be fine ...

Malva - Mauve

Second Citron of my knitter carrier.

I love this shawl (designed by Hilary Smith Callis and published on Knitty Winter 2009) because of his shape and because of his see-throught effect. But like I well remembered, working the last few rows of the pattern is very annoying: too many stitches!! However I still think it is worthy!

This time I used two different yarns held together: Lace Silk by Handmaiden (100% silk, 100 gr = 900 m, color Pewter) and KidsilkHaze by Rowan (Super Kid Mohair: 70%, Silk: 30%, 25 gr = 210 m, color Majestic), the first in light purple, grey and beige shades, the second one in a fantastic mauve color. It’s the first time I use these yarns and I was amazed by Handmaiden’s brightness and shades and by Kidsilk’s softness, fluffiness and lightness, a wonderful mohair.

I then added along the edge four bobble buttons, in light purple and silver, to close the shawl creating a kind of cape. Good variant for those, like me, always managing to let their shawls fall on the ground!

As we say in Italian, “there is no two without three”, but for now it’s enough! =)
