Oranje sneak peak!

Al momento ho diversi lavori sui ferri e sotto la macchina da cucire, ma voglio farvene vedere uno che mi piace particolarmente. È il mio Oranje in corso d'opera che sto realizzando con tre bellissimi colori della Cephalopod Yarns. Il colore principale è Peaks of Otter, gli altri due sono San Francisco Bay e Davy Jones' Locker. Non sono bellissimi?
Infine, con orgoglio, vi presento la mia prima treccia lettone. Mi ci sono volute almeno un paio d'ore per finirla. Due ore di massima concentrazione. Due ore super impegnative. Ma alla fine eccola qua e la adoro!

At the moment I've several projects on my knitting needles and under the needles of my sewing machine but I want to show you one I particularly love. It is my Oranje in progress, knitted with three amazing colors by Cephalopod Yarns. The main color is Peaks of Otter, the other two are San Francisco Bay and Davy Jones' Locker. Aren't they beautiful?
Lastly, with pride, I introduce you my very first latvian braid. It took me at least a couple of hours. Two hours of extreme concentration. Two very hard hours. But here it is and I love it!

Horray!

Mi trovo in una zona tropicale dove, anche se è pieno inverno, le temperature dovrebbero essere miti e gradevoli, mentre a me sembra d’essere nel deserto! Di giorno il termometro si avvicina quasi sempre ai 25 gradi, invece di sera la temperatura scende e l’umidità si alza così tanto che a volte fa davvero freddo. Allora io, onde evitare di prendere un altro bel raffreddore, ho rispolverato la bellissima lana blu che avevo usato per fare (e disfare!) Enso e ho realizzato un cardigan che avevo sott’occhio già da un pezzo. 

At the moment I live in a tropical area where, even if it is mid-winter, temperatures should be mild and nice, while I feel being in the middle of the desert! By day, the thermometer always shows around 25 degrees, while by night the temperature drops and the humidity goes up so much that it is usually quite chilly. So, instead of catching another cold, I dusted off the beautiful blue wool that I’ve used to knit (and un-knit!) Enso, to make one of the many cardigans I’ve always liked.

Hooray si è rivelato perfetto sotto ogni punto di vista: spiegazioni chiarissime, presenza di avvolgenti trecce che fanno subito pensare all’inverno, modello adatto per il filato che avevo e soprattutto assai carino! Ora sì che sono pronta per uscire la sera! 

Hooray revealed itself perfect under every point of view: a well written pattern, the presence of cuddly cables which reminds me immediately of winter time, ideal pattern for the yarn I had and, above all, super cute! Now I am ready to go out by night!

Desert Crow

Finalmente mia sorella da Parigi mi ha spedito le foto del maglione che le avevo spedito a Natale. Vi ho già detto quanto sia bella la lana che ho usato in questo post, ora invece vi faccio vedere quello che ne è venuto fuori...

Le trecce iniziano dal collo, lavorate a coste in modo da essere reversibili, continuano poi lungo i raglan per scendere lungo i fianchi. Un maglione semplice, caldo, morbido e nero, proprio come voleva Federica.

Finally my sister sent me from Paris the pics of the pullover that I mailed her over Xmas. I've already told you how beautiful is the wool I've used in this post, now I'll show what I knitted...

The cables begin in the neck, worked in a rib pattern so they are reversible, they continue along the raglan to finally go down along the sides. A simple sweater, warm, soft and black, as Federica wanted.

Bottiglia - Bottle

Sembra che maglioni ed accessori fatti con lana super bulky vadano molto di moda e siccome mi sono capitati tra le mani un po’ di gomitoli di Lana Grossa Ragazza Lei (50 gr = 39 m, 100% merino ) in un bellissimo verde bottiglia, ho deciso di metterci subito mano.

In Vogue Knitting Fall 2010 ho trovato un modello perfetto, questo cardigan-giacchetta con maniche a tre quarti e con treccia sul dietro e sulle maniche di Tina Lutz e Marcia Patmos, una tedesca e un’americana che dal 2000 creano insieme collezioni di abbigliamento ed accessori fatti a maglia. 

Sferruzzare questo capo è stato super veloce e con ferri da 10 mm ho finito il lavoro in un batter d’occhio! Ho poi aggiunto un paio di grandi bottoni ed ecco qua questa morbidissima e calda giacca da portare durante le “mezze stagioni”.

It looks like that sweaters and accessories made with super bulky yarns are very fashionable and as I came across with few balls of Ragazza Lei by Lana Grossa (50 g = 39 m, 100% merino wool) in a beautiful bottle green color, I decided to use it immediately.

In Vogue Knitting Fall 2010  I found a perfect pattern, this cardigan- jacket with three quarter sleeves and a cable on the back and sleeves by Tina Lutz and Marcia Patmos, a German and an American whom, since 2000, create knitted clothing and accessories collections.

Knitting this item has been very fast and with 10 mm needles I’ve been able to finish it in a blink of an eye! Then I added a pair of  big buttons and here is a very soft and warm jacket to wear in midseason.

Olga Buraya-Kefelian

Stavo fecendo un giro su Ravelry e tra i pattern appena pubblicati ho trovato questo. Una specie di traccia adebita a collana o a bracciale, fatta da due strisce forate e poi intrecciate insieme.

Potete seguire Olga sul suo blog, qui. Visitandolo ho subito capito chi era, conosco i suoi lavori pubblicati nei suoi libri o su riviste come Interweave Knits, belli e interessanti.

Insomma, questo per dirvi che... mi sono subito messa a lavoro!

I was surfing in Ravelry and in the newly published patterns I found this one. A kind of cable to wear like necklace or bracelet, made by two holed strips intertwined together.

Watching it I immediately understood who she is, I know her patterns published in her books or in magazines like Interweave Knits, beautiful and interesting.

So, all this monologue to tell you that....I have already begun my cable!
