Dragonflies

Here weare: last post of 2012 about the last cardigan of the year!

As you cansee it is the wonderful Dragonflies Jumper by Joji Locatelli, slightly modified tobecome a cardigan. The yarn is Madelinetosh, Tosh DK Twist, in Neon Peach, acolor I’ve always liked but that I’ve been able to buy just few weeks ago. Assoon as I opened the parcel I knew that those 4 amazing skeins would become aDragonflies. Tosh DK Twist is very soft and knits up like a dream, I’m sure I’llbuy it again very soon!

Find theright buttons has been impossible so I did them myself with some Fimo. I’venever used this colorful modeling clay before and I’ve to say that it’s prettyeasy and straight forward to use: I’ll keep it in mind in the future forhard-to-find-buttons.

Il risultato finale mi piace tantissimo: ottimo pattern, filato eccezionale e bottoni in tinta! Non potrei chiedere di meglio!

I’m verypleased with final result: great pattern, beautiful yarn and buttons of theright shade! I couldn’t ask more!

Buon Natale!!!!

I'm nearly in late for the wishes, but still on time! This year I have been lazy and I didn't do any decoration, but next year I want to create something with my lovely yarn balls, what do you think about a wreath like this one? Isn't that cute?
Anyway....have a great day and may Santa be generous with you all! Merry Xmas everyone!

Smeraldo! - Emerald!

I had predicted months ago that, as Pantone just announced, the color of the year 2013 will be emerald green. A lively, radiant, lush green. I have already some skeins Eady to be used in my stash, here it is the evidence.

And what do you think, do you like emerald green?

Acquisti- Purchases

I'm sorry to say that lately I can't knit much. The reason? 30 degrees and lots of humidity don't motivate myself enough to finish my works in progress, in wool, cotton or linen, because I can't show them off. It's months that I don't wear a cardigan or a pull made by myself, not even a short sleeves one, because of this warm weather. This is why I give way to sewing, so I can wear  what i produce. Said so, I don't waste my time and the Dragonflies is nearly done. And to confirm you that I still love yarns and knitting, here there are a few photos of my last purchase at Cephalopod Yarns. Some Traveller in some awesome shades...

TML Urban

Finally I finished the Xmas presents, which at the moment are flying to Europe, and I could dedicare myself to my forlon TML Urban, started about a month ago (or maybe more?).
Tosh Merino Light is officially in my list of to-use-again-as-soon-as-possible-yarns: it is super soft and has amazing shades.
The pattern is very easy and quick to knit and for once I didn't modify anything, apart from adding a button! At the beginning I was a little worried about the neckline, but once I tried the blouse on, the doubta have dissolved immediately: it fits perfectly!
Do you like it?
And now I'm working on Joji's dragonflies with another beautiful MadelineTosh yarn...soon the results!

Thanksgiving day

Ok, it is almost a month that I don't write and show you my stuff, but just because I don't want to spoil any Xmas surprise! So You have to know that I didn't stop knitting, or buying yarns, or books on the subject. My last purchase has been "Knit the Season" by Kate Jacobs, last part of the trilogy dedicated to Dakota Walkers and the other women of the Friday Night Knitting Club. I cannot wait to go to bed to start reading it..plus it is so...in Season!

"How essential to stop, reflect, be grateful. For food. For family. For subtle joys, such as the feel of soft yarn on fingertips, for the sense of ease that comes, stitch upon stitch, from following the rhythm of the pattern. Honoring the spirit of the holidays can also be a celebration of the experience of crafting.

2012 WW Mystery Hat KAL

Ora devo solo decidere quale filato usare! E voi che fate, vi aggregate?

I've never participated to a Woolly Wormhead's KAL, bit this year I want to do it, even if outside there are 30 degrees. I'm sure I don't need a hat, but how can I resist the lovely WW's patterns? Now I just need to find the right yarn! And are you gonna join the KAL?

Madelinetosh

Ages ago I fell in love with a couple of projects I've seen on Ravelry knitted in Tosh Merino Light in Neon Peach, but I've never found this color available in any of the Madelinetosh' basis. Until few mornings ago when, accidentally, I couldn't sleep and began to browse in Internet. I was in the Mad site and Neon Peach in Twist DK appeared in front of my eyes so I couldn't resist and I bought it. Now it is here, in my very hands, and I can't stop to stare at it. It is an unusual color for me, a nice fluoro pinky orange, but I love it and I think that very soon it will become a lovely Dragonflies Sweater! But first I have to finish the projects I have on the needles uh...

WIPs

I have to be sincere, lately I put aside my biggest passion, knitting. Why? Because as every day I work for long hours in the middle of fabrics, I couldn't resist the temptation of buying a sewing machine! So my Celestite is on the needles since ages ago, with its sleeves half way through and doesn't want to be finished.

But in the meantime I put together this dress, in sateen cotton, with damned ruffles along the neck and with crinoline along the underskirt. What do you reckon? I hope you like it as I'm very proud of it!

Anyway...last night, maybe thanks to the wind and cloud, I decided to begin a new knitting project with a yarn I've never used before (such a stupid!): here it is Urban by Veera Välimäki in Madelinetosh Merino Light. And as I really love this wool, I promise to finish it in a blink of an eye!

Citron # 3

A me piace mooooooltooooo!

Here it is my third Citron, knitted with one of my favorite yarns: Merino 2 ply by Touch Yarns. I bought this yarn - and many more! - in New Zealand, nearly 3 years ago, and every so often I get a skein from my stash to knit something special with it. This time I decided to add a pin to this not so big shawl, in order to wear it more comfortably. I made it with some gray and deep blue organza, in the same shades of the yarn. Do you like it? I personally love it!

Rockefeller!

Grazie  Mr SW!

Yay, I didn't stop to knit, I just had not much time to write blog posts! In the  meantime I finally finished my Rockefeller, knitted with Malabrigo Sock. I love it. The construction is different from the  shawl patterns that I usually follow - and I like - and the patterns created by the intarsia method are very nice. To do it again. Thank you Mr SW!

Winnowing # 2

I have looked everywhere for the right shade of green for the shawl I had to wear the day of my sister’s wedding and when I found it I jumped of joy. The color is Red Legged Ham Beetle by Cephalopod Yarns and it is perfect next to my green jade dress. But when I arrived at home in San Marcello the temperature was extraordinary warm and therefore decidedly not right for a merino yarn, even if in a fingering weight and knitted in a lace pattern. This is the easiest part, as when I reached 10 cm from the end of the shawl border … I run out of yarn!! So, even if I would have had the courage to wear the shawl and swept in the church, I couldn’t put on my lovely Winnowing in any case because I couldn’t finish it. So sad. To put an end to this miserable story, this yarn is at the moment out of stock at Cephalopod so I couldn’t buy it again and, above all, I couldn’t find the same dye lot unless a lovely person from the US wouldn’t sent me a skein of the same same batch of my Skinny Bugga! permitting me to end this odyssey. Now it is finished, washed and blocked, and I wish I was at home to slowly be entering winter with my beautiful green shawl.

Cold Mountain

Super chic!

Pattern: Cold Mountain by Kieran Foley
Yarn:Soft Silk Ramie by Pierrot Yarns (70% Ramie + 30% Silk, 100 gr = 470 m, color black)
Needles: 3 mm Knit Pro in wood.

I finally finished this Odyssey: the pattern is amazing and very elegant, but maybe the yarn is a little too slippery and I had hard times working them together. But with a bit of patience, I did it and my mum wore this wonderful piece at my sister's wedding. Super chic!

Verdi-Greens!

Ecco qua i miei ultimi acquisti...

It is time to put aside the much loved and exploited Tangerine and make some room in our closets for the green, better if in a bright shade. I don't love this color, but I'm doing my best to like it and maybe I have been carried away a little! Here are my last purchases...

Winnowing

Me ne sono avanzati solo pochissimi grammi.

Yarn: Skein Merino Silk Lace, in Nori.
Needles: 3 mm circular.
Pattern: Winnowing by Bristol Ivy, per Brooklyn Tweed.
Patience: heaps, but it has been worth it!
Mods: For the border I co just 21 stitches instead of 25 as I was worried to run out of yarn and thanks god I did it as I have just few grams of yarn left. Plus, I knitted the first stitch without twisting it as I think it looks better and neater.
