Phengaris Alcon

Non e’ una farfalla, ma un scialle che per il colore e per la lavorazione ricorda la Phengaris Alcon.

Scialli, scialli, scialli! 

Questa volta la scelta e’ caduta sul Colonnade Shawl di Stephen West. Il pattern lo potete trovare su Knitty Fall 2009.

Per realizzarlo ho accoppiato due filati eccezionali: Piura di Filitaly-Lab (50 gr = 400 mt, 65% baby alpaca, 10% merinos, 25 % poliammide, colore 845),  e Merino 2 ply della Touch Yarns (100 gr = 900 mt, 100% merino, colore 275), acquistato in Nuova Zelanda lo scorso Giugno. Il Piura l’ho gia’ usato nella variante “lampone” per il Mea Shawl, il Merino 2 ply e’ invece una ‘new entry’ (anche se e’ assai simile al Mohair-Merino 2 ply, sempre della Touch Yarns, che ho gia’ usato per altri lavori). I colori dei due filati sono nati per stare insieme: il blu polveroso del Piura si accosta perfettamente ai blu e ai grigi del Merino, creando un bellissimo effetto ’nuvola variegata’.

Due parole sul Colonnade. Il risultato mi piace molto (nonostante il visibile errore..ooops!), ma mi sono incatricchiata spesso con le ripetizioni e piu’ volte ho dovuto controllare l’andamento del lavoro, cosa che invece non mi capita spesso. Staro’ perdendo colpi... Comunque e’ un modello molto carino, facile da portare, un accessorio adatto a qualsiasi capo.

Shawls, shawls and more shawls!

This time the choice has been Colonnade Shawl by Stephen West. You can find the pattern on Knitty, Fall 2009.

To knit it I matched two fabulous yarns: Piura by Filitaly-Lab (50 gr = 400 mt, 65% baby alpaca, 10% merinos and 25 % polyamide, colour 845) and Merino 2 ply by Touch Yarns (100gr = 900 mt, 100% merino, colour 275), bought in June in New Zealand. I have already used Piura in the ‘raspberry’ colour variation to knit the Mea Shawl, but Merino 2 ply is a ‘new entry’ (even if I have already used a very similar yarn for other projects, Mohair-Merino 2 ply by Touch Yarns as well). The colours of those two yarns are born to be knitted together: the dusty blue of Piura match perfectly with the blues and the greys of the Merino, creating a beautiful ‘variegated cloud’ effect.

Few words about Colonnade. I really like the result (despite the visible error...oooops!), but I had some troubles with the repetitions, I often had to check the progress of the work, which I don’t usually do. Probably I’m getting old... Anyway the pattern is really nice, it is an easy-wear accessory that can match with every apparel you have in your wardrobe.

Mini cappa effetto pizzo/Lacy mini cape

Ho acquistato Vogue Knitting/Designer Knitting Holiday 2010 e mi sono innamorata di questa mini cappa disegnata da Eline Oftedal, impreziosita da un disegno di foglie effetto pizzo. E’ lavorata con i circolari, partendo dal collo, fatto a coste 2/2, e scendendo fino al bordo. Il modello prevede l’uso dello sbrillucicante Symphony di Tilli Thomas usato doppio, ma io ho pensato fosse perfetta anche la Puno 2 di Filitaly-Lab…indovinate di che colore?? Ovviamente lampone! E il risultato parla da solo.

Capo perfetto per dare un tocco chic all’abbigliamento delle feste, da portare sia sui cappotti che su abiti senza maniche e scollati, ma anche sui maglioni di tutti i giorni! 

I bought Vogue Knitting/Designer Knitting Holiday 2010 and I felt in love with this mini cape designed by Eline Oftedal, made precious by a lacy leaves pattern. It is knitted in the round with circular needles, starting from the cowl, in 2/2 rib, and going down until the edge. The pattern expects the use of the glittering Symphony by Tilli Thomas, but I thought Puno 2 by Filitaly-Lab could be perfect as well. And guess in with color? Obviously raspberry! And the result speaks for itself!

This garment is perfect to give a chic touch to the holiday apparels, it can be worn on coats or on sleeveless dresses, but on everyday-pullovers as well!

Materiale

- 1 gomitolo di Puno 2 di Filitaly-Lab, 50 gr = 110 mt, 68% Baby Alpaca, 10% Lana Merino Extrafine, 22% Poliammide, colore 845 (blu polveroso).

- Ferri circolari da 4,5 mm e 7 mm.

- 1 marcapunti

- ago da lana

Dritte

Avviare 70 m con i ferri circolari da 4,5 mm, mettere il marcapunti per segnare l'inizio del giro e unire in tondo lavorando 12 ferri a coste 1/1.

Cambiare le punte con quelle da 7 mm e proseguire a punto fantasia:

1 ferro: [1 dir, 1 rov] fino alla fine

2 ferro: tutto a rov

Ripetere questi due ferri fino a raggiungere la lunghezza desiderata (io sono arrivata a circa 

19 cm), poi diminuire le m come segue:

1 ferro: [5 dir, 2 ins a dir] fino alla fine (tot 60 m)

2 ferro: [4 dir, 2 ins a dir] fino alla fine (tot 50 m)

3 ferro: [3 dir, 2 ins a dir] fino alla fine (tot 40 m)

4 ferro: [2 dir, 2 ins a dir] fino alla fine (tot 30 m)

5 ferro: [1 dir, 2 ins a dir] fino alla fine (tot 20 m)

6 ferro: 2 ins a dir fino alla fine (tot 10 m)

Non accavvallare le m per chiuderle, ma far passare con l'ago il filo dentro alle m e cucire.

Il filato

Due parole sul filato. Semplicemente bello. Morbido da far impazzire, ma soprattutto assai versatile visto che si può lavorare un'ampia gamma di ferri e quindi spaziare con la fantasia creando effetti assai diversi.

Questo colore poi, come del resto il Piura “lampone”, è favoloso e il filo, una volta lavorato, sembra una nuvola scura prima del temporale.

Material

- 1 ball of Puno 2 by Filitay-Lab, 50 gr = 110 mt, 68& Baby Alpaca, 10% Merino Extra-fine, 22% Polyamide, color 845 (dusty blue)

- 4,5 mm and 7 mm circular needles

- 1 stitch marker

- sew needle

Instructions

Cast on 70 m with 4,5 mm needles, place marker, work in rib 1/1 for 12 rows.

Change to 7 mm needles and work in pattern as follows:

1 row: [1 k, 1 p] til the end

2 row: purl

Repeat this two rows to reach the desired length (I knitted to 19 cm), then decrease as follows:

1 row: [5 k, 2 ktog] til the end of the row (60 sts)

2 row: [4 k, 2 ktog] til the end of the row (50 sts)

3 row: [3 k, 2 ktog] til the end of the row (40 sts)

4 row: [2 k, 2 ktog] til the end of the row (30 sts)

5 row: [1 k, 2 ktog] til the end of the row (20 sts)

6 row: 2 ktog til the end f the row (10 sts)

Don't bind off but leave the sts on the needles and pass the yarn inside the sts with a sew needle and sew.

The yarn

It is simply beautiful. Very soft but above all very versatile because you can knit it with several size needles, from 4,5 mm to 8 mm and so you can use your fantasy to create different effects.

The color, like Piura in “raspberry”, is fabulous and the yarn when is knitted looks like a cloud before the storm.

Lampone - Raspberry

Raspberry fields forever!

Ecco qua finito il Mea Shawl di Emma Fassio, che avevo iniziato durante il Work Shop di Unfilodi e che era rimasto in stand-by per qualche settimana.

Filato: Piura di Filitaly-Lab (50 gr = ca. 400 m), colore 838, a tutti noto come “lampone”.

Ferri: circolari Knit Pro in acrilico (ovviamente rosa!), 4 mm.

Filitay-Lab è una ditta nuova, nuova che tra l'altro ha la sua sede vicino a casa mia, a Montemurlo.

Piura è un misto di Baby Alpaca (65%), Lana Merino Extrafine (10%) e Poliammide (25%). Nonostante la percentuale di acrilico, il filato è soffice, morbido, non buca ed è perfetto per realizzare questo tipo di lavori. E il colore?! E' bellissimo, caldo e con un tono di viola dentro che lo rende davvero unico. Sicuramente lo userò di nuovo, magari nell'altra variante “mirtillo”!

Needles: 4 mm acrylic circular Knit Pro (obviously pink!).

Filitaly-Lab is a new brand that has its home close to my village, in Montemurlo.

Piura is a mix of Baby Alpaca (65%), Merino wool extra fine (10%) and Polyamide (25%). Nonetheless the percentage of acrylic, the yarn is soft, smooth, it doesn't itch and is perfect to knit these kind of patterns. And what about the color?! It is wonderful, warm and with touch of violet inside that make it really unique. I'll use it again, for sure, perhaps in the other color variation “blueberry”!
