Mi dispiace ammettere che ultimamente non riesco a lavorare molto ai ferri. E ho capito pure perché. 30 gradi e umidità elevata non mi motivano abbastanza a finire i miei lavori, siano in lana, cotone o lino, perché poi non posso sfoggiarli. Sono mesi che non mi metto un cardigan o un pull fatti da me, nemmeno uno a maniche corte, tanto è caldo. Per questo questo sto dando la precedenza al cucito, almeno posso portare e sfruttare i miei lavori. Detto questo, non sto certo con le mani in mano  e il Dragonflies è in dirittura d'arrivo. E per confermarvi che amo ancora i filati e sferruzzare, ecco qui qualche foto del mio ultimo acquisto da Cephalopod Yarns. Un po' di Traveller dai colori meravigliosi...

I'm sorry to say that lately I can't knit much. The reason? 30 degrees and lots of humidity don't motivate myself enough to finish my works in progress, in wool, cotton or linen, because I can't show them off. It's months that I don't wear a cardigan or a pull made by myself, not even a short sleeves one, because of this warm weather. This is why I give way to sewing, so I can wear  what i produce. Said so, I don't waste my time and the Dragonflies is nearly done. And to confirm you that I still love yarns and knitting, here there are a few photos of my last purchase at Cephalopod Yarns. Some Traveller in some awesome shades...

TML Urban

Finalmente ho finito i regali di Natale, al momento in volo per l'Europa, e mi sono potuta dedicare al mio trascurato TML Urban, iniziato un mesetto fa (o forse più?).

Tosh Merino Light è ufficialmente nella mia lista di filati da riusare quanto prima: è morbidissima e ha delle sfumature davvero eccezionali!

Il pattern è facile e veloce da realizzare e una volta tanto non ho fatto alcuna modifica, tranne aggiunger eun bottone. All'inizio ero incerta sulla forma dello scollo, ma una volta provata la blusa i dubbi si sono dissolti subito: calza a pennello!

Che ve ne pare?

E ora sono alle prese con le libellule di Joji, con un altro meraviglioso filato della Madelinetosh...a breve i risultati!

Finally I finished the Xmas presents, which at the moment are flying to Europe, and I could dedicare myself to my forlon TML Urban, started about a month ago (or maybe more?).

Tosh Merino Light is officially in my list of to-use-again-as-soon-as-possible-yarns: it is super soft and has amazing shades.

The pattern is very easy and quick to knit and for once I didn't modify anything, apart from adding a button! At the beginning I was a little worried about the neckline, but once I tried the blouse on, the doubta have dissolved immediately: it fits perfectly!

And now I'm working on Joji's dragonflies with another beautiful MadelineTosh yarn...soon the results!

Thanksgiving day

Ok, è quasi un mese che non scrivo e faccio vedere niente, ma solo perché non voglio rovinare nessuna sorpresa di natale! Sappiate quindi che non ho smesso di fare la maglia, nè tantomeno di comprare filati, né libri sull'argomento. Ultimo acquisto infatti é stato "Knit the Season" di Kate Jacobs, ultima parte della trilogia dedicata a Dakota Walkers e alle altre donne del Club del Venerdì Sera. Non vedo l'ora di infilarmi a letto per iniziarlo e poi è così....di stagione!

Ok, it is almost a month that I don't write and show you my stuff, but just because I don't want to spoil any Xmas surprise! So You have to know that I didn't stop knitting, or buying yarns, or books on the subject. My last purchase has been "Knit the Season" by Kate Jacobs, last part of the trilogy dedicated to Dakota Walkers and the other women of the Friday Night Knitting Club. I cannot wait to go to bed to start reading it..plus it is so...in Season!

2012 WW Mystery Hat KAL

Non ho mai partecipato a un KAL di Woolly Wormhead, ma quest'anno voglio farlo, a dispetto dei 30 gradi che ci sono qui. Direi che non ho proprio bisogno di un cappello, ma come poter resistere ai deliziosi pattern di WW?! Ora devo solo decidere quale filato usare! E voi che fate, vi aggregate?

I've never participated to a Woolly Wormhead's KAL, bit this year I want to do it, even if outside there are 30 degrees. I'm sure I don't need a hat, but how can I resist the lovely WW's patterns? Now I just need to find the right yarn! And are you gonna join the KAL?

Madelinetosh

Su Ravelry, già da qualche tempo, avevo puntato un paio di lavori eseguiti con la Tosh Merino Light in Neon Peach, ma non riuscivo mai a trovare questo colore dispinibile in nessuna delle basi della Madelientosh. Finché qualche mattina fa non riuscivo a dormire e casualmente mi sono messa su internet. Altrettanto casualmente, sono rifinita sul sito della Madelinetosh e non potevo certo resistere quando davanti ai miei occhi si é materializzata la Twist DK proprio in Neon Peach. Ora é qui, tra le mie mani, e non smetto di ammirarla. É un colore inusuale per me, un bel arancio rosato fosforescente, ma lo adoro e credo che presto diventerà un bel Dragonflies Sweater! Ma prima devo finire i lavori che ho sui ferri eh....

Ages ago I fell in love with a couple of projects I've seen on Ravelry knitted in Tosh Merino Light in Neon Peach, but I've never found this color available in any of the Madelinetosh' basis. Until few mornings ago when, accidentally, I couldn't sleep and began to browse in Internet. I was in the Mad site and Neon Peach in Twist DK appeared in front of my eyes so I couldn't resist and I bought it. Now it is here, in my very hands, and I can't stop to stare at it. It is an unusual color for me, a nice fluoro pinky orange, but I love it and I think that very soon it will become a lovely Dragonflies Sweater! But first I have to finish the projects I have on the needles uh...

WIPs

Devo essere sincera, ultimamente ho messo da parte la mia più grande passione che, come intuirete, é fare la maglia. Perché? Beh, lavoro in mezzo ai tessuti per gran parte della giornata e la tentazione ha prevalso: ho comprato una macchina da cucire! Quindi adesso, il mio Celestite giace sui ferri, con le maniche a metà e non ne vuole sapere di essere finito.

I have to be sincere, lately I put aside my biggest passion, knitting. Why? Because as every day I work for long hours in the middle of fabrics, I couldn't resist the temptation of buying a sewing machine! So my Celestite is on the needles since ages ago, with its sleeves half way through and doesn't want to be finished.

Nel frattempo però sono riuscita a mettere insieme questo vestito, in cotone sateen, con maledette ruches lungo lo scollo e con tanto di crinoline nel sottogonna. Che ne dite? Spero vi piaccia perché io ne sono decisamente orgogliosa!

But in the meantime I put together this dress, in sateen cotton, with damned ruffles along the neck and with crinoline along the underskirt. What do you reckon? I hope you like it as I'm very proud of it!

Comunque, ieri sera, forse complici il vento e le nuvole, ho deciso di iniziare un nuovo lavoro ai ferri, con un filato che non avevo ancora mai usato (che sciocca!): ecco qua Urban di Veera Välimäki in Madelinetosh Merino Light. E visto quanto mi piace questa lana, lo finirò in un batter d'occhio, promesso!

Anyway...last night, maybe thanks to the wind and cloud, I decided to begin a new knitting project with a yarn I've never used before (such a stupid!): here it is Urban by Veera Välimäki in Madelinetosh Merino Light. And as I really love this wool, I promise to finish it in a blink of an eye!

Citron # 3

Ecco qua il mio terzo Citron, lavorato con uno dei miei filati preferiti: Merino 2 ply della Touch Yarns. Acquistai questa lana - e molte altre! - in Nuova Zelanda, ormai quasi tre anni fa e ogni tanto ne tiro fuori una matassa dal mio armadio per realizzare qualcosa di speciale. Stavolta ho deciso di aggiungere una spilla, in modo da poter portare più comodamente questo scialle non troppo grande, senza farlo così cadere dalle spalle. La spilla l'ho realizzata con dell'organza blu e grigia, negli stessi toni del filo. Che ve ne pare? A me piace mooooooltooooo!

Here it is my third Citron, knitted with one of my favorite yarns: Merino 2 ply by Touch Yarns. I bought this yarn - and many more! - in New Zealand, nearly 3 years ago, and every so often I get a skein from my stash to knit something special with it. This time I decided to add a pin to this not so big shawl, in order to wear it more comfortably. I made it with some gray and deep blue organza, in the same shades of the yarn. Do you like it? I personally love it!
