Borse! - Bags!

Qual è l’accessorio da donna che mi piace di più? Ovviamente le borse, in ogni loro forma, colore e materiale! Ma solo perché vanno di pari passo con le scarpe eh! 
 

Non posso sferruzzare un paio di scarpe, almeno non un paio che possa resistere all’asfalto e alle intemperie, ma sì che posso realizzare borse! E girando per Busselton, ecco che ti vedo lì che mi aspettava, nell’unico negozio che vende filati, questa bellissima hand-bag realizzata mettendo insieme tanti fiori cicciuti di lana. La mia testolina si è messa subito all’opera per trovare il modo di replicare a casa il suddetto “gioiello” e mi sono subito ricordata di quest’altra borsa, vista tempo fa su Ravelry, ma ahimè fatta all’uncinetto, cosa che proprio non mi riesce fare.  Quindi… non ho ancora trovato una soluzione al dilemma “fiore”… i consigli pertanto sono ben accetti!

Nel frattempo, non mi resta che mettere da parte tutti gli avanzi di lana e aspettare di averne un bel mucchietto e un lampo di genio per poter realizzare un fac-simile di questa borsa che mi piace tanto!

Which is my favorite women accessory? Obviously bags of every shape, color and material! But just because they go together with shoes aye!

I can’t knit a pair of shoes, at least not a pair that can resist to the asphalt and to the weather, but yes, I can knit bags! And walking around Busselton I saw, in the only store that sells yarns, waiting for me, this beautiful hand-​​bag made sewing together a lot of fatty flowers in wool. My brain immediately has started to work to find out a way to replicate this "jewel" and I immediately remembered this other bag, saw a while ago on Ravelry, but alas crocheted, something that really I cannot do. So… I didn’t find yet a solution to the flowery dilemma and recommendations are more than welcome!

In the meantime, I just have to put aside all the leftovers of wool until I have a nice pile and a flash of genius to create a replica of this bag that I love so much!

The Margaret River Wool Company

Ieri, splendida giornata invernale di sole, ho deciso di andare un po’ a zonzo per la zona e fare un po’ di acquisti. Oltre a un numero abbastanza cospicuo di bottiglie di ogni sorta di vino (Margaret River è rinomata, oltre che per i bei “fusti” che popolano l’oceano surfando, anche per le numerose e ottime aziende vinicole), ho fatto tappa al negozio di lana e riportato a casa qualche matassa.

A questo giro ho scelto un bellissimo filato neozelandese, ovviamente 100% lana, in una tenue sfumatura di beige, da accostare a una sublime Silk Garden della Noro, acquistata qualche tempo fa da un negozio Ebay.

Ma non vi voglio anticipare nulla circa i miei prossimi progetti, ma parlarvi invece di questo piccolo negozietto che si trova in una posizione davvero strategica: vicino a un’altra bottega – Yahava Koffeeworks-  che vende del buonissimo caffè. Cosa c’è di meglio infatti che sferruzzare e godersi una tazza di caffè fumante e profumato?? Comunque… The Margaret River Wool Company offre una buona scelta di filati (Sublime Yarns, Jo Sharp, Filatura di Crosa, Heirloom, Naturally e molti altri), di ferri (Addii e Clover) ed accessori (vedi Namaste), il tutto allestito in un candidi scaffali. E se volete cimentarvi nel fare la maglia o l’uncinetto oppure sfogliare i numerosi patterns disponibili, potete sedervi sul comodo divano e passare un po’ di tempo in questo piccolo magico spazio ritagliato appena due passi fuori dal movimentato e allegro centro di Margaret River. 

Yesterday, a lovely and sunny winter Sunday, I decided to go around the area and do some shopping. As well as a large number of bottle of every sort of wine (Margaret River is renowned not only for the beautiful surfers whom populate the ocean, but also for its excellent wineries), I stopped at the wool shop and brought home some skeins of yarn.

This time I choose a beautiful yarn produced in New Zealand, obviously 100% wool, in a subtle nuance of beige, to match with a sublime Silk Garden by Noro, bought some weeks ago from an Ebay shop.

I don’t want to anticipate anything about my next project, but talk instead about this small shop that is located in a very clever position: close to another shop - Yahava Koffeeworks – which sells delicious coffee. What's better, in fact, that knitting while enjoying a cup of steaming and perfumed coffee? Anyway... The Margaret River Wool Company offers a good selection of yarns (Sublime, Jo Sharp, Filatura di Crosa, Heirloom, Naturally, and many others), needles (Addie and Clover) and accessories (see Namaste), arranged in nice white shelves. And if you want to try knitting, crocheting or just browse in the many patterns available, you can sit on the comfortable sofa and spend some time in this magical little space carved out just two steps away from the lively and cheerful town centre of Margaret River.

Fine della vendemmia! - End of vintage!

Finalmente sono riuscita a finire questo scialle!!! Credo che Blueberry si meriti di diritto il titolo di “lavoro più lento dell’anno”!

 Come vi avevo già mostrato in questo post, il filato usato è Jawoll Magic della Lang Yarn, mentre il modello è una piccola variante di Bush. In pratica ho solo modificato il numero delle ripetizioni del motivo lace a aggiunto delle ruches lungo il bordo, niente di più!

Ora ho già sotto i ferri qualcosa di nuovo, ma non vi voglio rovinare la sorpresa quindi dovrete aspettare ancora un po’ per vedere i risultati del mio ultimo lavoro!

Finally I finished this shawl!!! I think Blueberry deserves the title of “the slowest project of the year”!

Like I already showed you in this old post, the yarn I used is Jawoll Magic by Lang Yarns, while the pattern is a small variation of Bush. I basically only did a different number of the lace motif repeats and I added a ruche along the edge, that’s it!

Now I’ve already something new on my needles, but I don’t want to spoil the surprise so you have to wait a little before you can see my new knitting project finished!

Lime Dusty

Finalmente mi sono rimessa all’opera con qualche risultato! In occasione del compleanno di un’amica ho sferruzzato un po’ e in un batter d’occhio (filato super chunky!) ho portato a termine un Dusty in versione “cicciona”.

 Filato scelto: Gabbiano della Naturally (39% Lana / 39% Acrilico / 22% Poliammide, 50 gr = 40 mt circa, colore 1), una ditta neozelandese che però produce parte dei suoi filati in Italia. Lato positivo di tutto questo girovagare per il mondo è che, per ogni gomitolo acquistato, 5 centesimi vengono divisi tra la Child Cancer Foundation della Nuova Zelanda e il Children’s Cancer Institute australiano. Dunque, un “buon” acquisto!

Ed ecco le dritte per la versione super chunky del mio beanie: con punte da 6 mm avviare 42 m e, chiudendo in tondo le m, lavorare 6 giri a coste 1/1. Poi passare alle punte da 10 mm e continuare il cappello seguendo le  istruzioni per il normale Dusty. Per rendere un po’ più particolare il lavoro ho pensato di aggiungere un pompon fatto con lo stesso filato, da appuntare in cima al cappello per un look un po’ più sportivo e sbarazzino. Che ve ne pare? =)

 Finally I had time to knit and finish something again! On the occasion of a friend’s birthday, I knitted in a blink of an eye (super chunky yarn!) a “fat” version of Dusty.

Yarn chosen: Gabbiano by Naturally (39% Wool / 39% Acrylic / 22% Polyamide, 50 gr = 40 mt, color 1), a New Zealander brand which produces some of its yarns in Italy. The silver lining of all this wander around the world is that: 5 cents from each bought ball will split equally between the Child Cancer Foundation of New Zealand and the Children’s Cancer Institute of Australia. So, a “good” purchase!

And here’s how to knit the super chunky version of the beanie: with 6 mm needles, cast on 42 sts, join in round and knit 6 rows in 1/1. Change to 10 mm needles and continue in pattern following the instructions for the normal version of Dusty. To make it a little more special, with the same yarn I made a pompon, to pin on the top for a more sporty and jaunty look. What do you think? =)

Ottanio-Teal

Blueberry

Mi scuso per l’assenza prolungata, ma negli ultimi due mesi non ho avuto molto tempo per sferruzzare. 

Al momento mi trovo a Busselton, un piccolo paese nel WA, e c’è solo un negozio di quilting che vende anche qualche gomitolo di lana. Molti hanno una percentuale di acrilico troppo elevata per i miei gusti, ma sono comunque riuscita a trovare qualcosa che mi piace. La scelta (ho cercato di variare, giuro!) è caduta di nuovo su un filato adatto a fare gli scialle e quindi, ancora, uno scialle! Il lavoro procede a rilento, ma il risultato è soddisfacente e questo è quello che più conta. 

Il filato che ho acquistato è Jawoll Magic (75% lana, 25% poliammide, 100 gr = 400 m, colore 1003) della Lang Yarns, una ditta svizzera che produce i propri prodotti in Italia e che poi gli esporta in Australia dove un’italiana li compra, per caso. I colori sono davvero belli e forse la Jawoll mi è piaciuta subito non solo per la sua morbidezza e vaporosità, ma anche perché mi ricorda molto la mia adorata Kauni. La tonalità che ho scelto è quella del blu: si parte da un tenue celeste polvere per passare a un blu chiaro che poi diventa scuro come la notte, quasi nero. Al negozio ci sono anche gomitoli con altre sfumature, forse dovrei comprarne altri!

Vi farò sapere cosa e vedere presto ne viene fuori!

I’m sorry if I disappeared for a so long time, but in the last two months I didn’t have enough time to knit.

At the moment I’m in Busselton, a little town in WA, where there is just a quilting shop that sells some balls of yarn as well. A lot of them have a too high percentage of acrylic for me, but anyway I found something that I like. My choice (I tried to vary, but I couldn’t!) fell again on a yarn ideal to knit shawls so, again, a shawl! The work goes slowly but it satisfies me and that’s the most important thing!

The yarn I bought is Jawoll Magic (75% new wool, 25% polyamide, 100 gr = 400 mt, color 1003) by Lang Yarns, a Switzerland brand which produce his stuff in Italy and then exports it to Australia, where an Italian girl can buy it, funny. Colors are beautiful and probably I immediately liked Jawoll not just for its softness and airiness, but also because it reminds me of the gorgeous Kauni. The shade I’ve chosen is blue: it goes from a very pale to a very dark blue, nearly black. At the shop they have balls in other shades too, maybe I should buy some more!
