Bush

Scialle-mania.

Shawl-mania. Yes, another shawl! This time I decided to improvise and create something different, using new stitches and techniques.
Bush has been on my needles for a long time, but after a few weeks I finally found the time to finish it! Since now on no more shawls, I promise (but just for a short period of time, I suppose!).
This time I picked the yarn Knitosophy by Dream in Color (do you remember Hari? Well, the same brand) in the fabulous color Superhero, a blend of greens, browns and blues recalling the Australian bush. I like this yarn especially for its consistency: a 3 ply yarn that permits high stitch definition. Obviously there is a downfall as well: shawls knitted with this kind of yarn will never have the same softness, lightness and airiness of shawls knitted with mohair and alpaca (see Piura by Filitaly-Lab) or with fantastic silk-merino mixes (see Silky Merino by Malabrigo). Hence, different yarns for different results, one of the keys to obtain what we want in knitting!
You can find the instructions in the right column here in the blog. I hope you like Bush and you decide to cast on immediately your personal one!

I'm alive!

I'm writing just to let you know that I'm still alive, staying in a little town in South Australia, Strathalbyn, without a decent internet connection, but with skeins of yarn and needles! So don't worry, my last creations are on the way!

Anatra - Common Teal

Filato: Mist by Patons, 50% tencel, 50 % acrilico, 50gr = 213 m, colore teal.
Ferri: circolari in acrilico Knit Pro da 4 mm.

I chose this name because of the color, the same color that common teals have on their neck.
The pattern is the same of Ranco-ing: an exquisite three triangular feature shawl decorated with a simple lace motif on the edge and with transparent beads on each point.
Yarn: Mist by Patons, 50% tencel, 50% acrylic, 50 g = 213 meters, color teal.
Needles:4 mm circular needles in acrylic by Knit Pro.

Hari

Accoppiata vincente.

I don’t know where to start this post, if talking about the ingenious Olga or of the fabulous yarn  'Starry' by Dream in Color.

As soon as I saw the pattern Hari I fell madly in love with it: versatile (in fact it can become a scarf, a cowl, a shawl or a stole), not too elaborate (and easy to knit) and knitted with an outstanding three-dimensional effect (this is the first time that something like that comes out from my needles!).

The ridges formed by the alternation of the slipped stitches on the left and on the right and of the  yarns over enliven the simple lace pattern that is repeated along the length of the work. Olga's idea to sew the small hooks and eyes on the edges in order to end the scarf to form a cowl or a shrug is original and then really lets you customize and alter your style in the blink of an eye.

And now the yarn. Starry (98% Australian Merino and 2% metallic filaments, 113 g = 411 meters) is perfect for this job: a stylish color, the Cocoa Kiss, enriched by many silver filaments. A yarn which enhances the pattern dynamic due to its high definition. I used a whole skein and I continued to knit until it is finished.

Winning combination.

Dusty #3

First of all...Happy New Year! I had a rest from my knitting stuff during the Xmas holidays, but today I used again my needles and I finished another Dusty (you can find the pattern in the column on the right side of the blog), using Mist by Patons (already used for the 'Nebbia-Mist" shawl).
I followed the instructions using 4,5 and 7 mm needles and almost a whole ball of yarn.
This is it!
